What these models are

The Hi-Max Series is the high-wing branch of the Mini-Max family. These aircraft keep the hands-on wood-and-fabric build approach while adding high-wing visibility, a more upright cabin feel, and a relaxed recreational flying personality.

The family includes the light 1703R Hi-Max Ultralight, the classic 1700R Hi-Max Sport, the VW-powered 1750V V-Hi-Max, and the V-Twin powered 1400S and 1450SS models.
