Mini-Max Aircraft Families
Meet the Mini-Max Lineup
Every Mini-Max has the same basic promise: minimum cost, maximum fun. The difference is how you want to fly, how much room you want, what engine path fits you, and whether your goal is Part 103 simplicity or experimental freedom.
Choose by mission
The right aircraft family makes the whole build easier to understand.
Mini-Max USA organizes the lineup by aircraft family so you can choose based on mission first. Start with how you want to fly, then narrow down the model, engine direction, cockpit width, build path, and kit options.

Important choice
Part 103 simplicity or experimental flexibility?
If your goal is simple, local, recreational flying, Part 103-focused models may fit. If you want larger airport access, travel flexibility, controlled airspace options, populated-area flexibility, more equipment, or more power, look at the experimental / light sport direction aircraft.
Single-seat, lightweight, low-complexity flying.
This family is for builders who want the simplest Mini-Max path and are focused on Part 103-style ultralight goals. These aircraft keep the mission tight: one seat, low weight, modest power, simple flying, and maximum fun per dollar.
Classic Mini-Max performance and personality.
This family is for builders who want more capability than a Part 103-focused aircraft while keeping the classic light, responsive, simple Mini-Max feeling. These aircraft point toward experimental / light sport style flexibility.
Classic homebuilt charm with 4-stroke character.
This family is for builders who want the sound, torque, and personality of VW-powered homebuilt flying. VW power adds a different feel from the light 2-stroke path and brings old-school experimental charm.
Modern 40 hp 4-stroke sport direction.
This family is for builders who want a newer Mini-Max USA 4-stroke path in a 24 inch cockpit aircraft. It keeps the sport-aircraft idea approachable while offering a smoother 4-stroke personality.
More cockpit room and more power flexibility.
This family is for builders who want the wider 26 inch cockpit and a 40-65 hp 4-stroke direction. It is the roomier, more future-facing side of the Mini-Max sport lineup.
Open-air, high-wing, motorcycle-in-the-sky fun.
AeroMax is for the pilot who wants something different. It is not about cabin comfort. It is about open-air visibility, simple joy, and the feeling of flying with the world right there around you.
Best for builders who want:
- Open-air flying
- High-wing visibility
- A motorcycle-style aviation feel
- A different kind of Mini-Max grin
- Maximum fun and minimum unnecessary complexity
High-wing guide
Prefer the view from below the wing?
High-wing aircraft appear across several Mini-Max families. If visibility, cabin-over-wing feel, or Hi-Max personality matters to you, compare these models together.
Still not sure? That is normal.
Choosing the right aircraft family is part mission, part budget, part body fit, part engine preference, and part personality. If you want help choosing, start with the model finder, compare the grid, or schedule a Builder Assist consultation.
Ready to narrow it down?
Pick the family, then shop the aircraft.
Once the family feels right, the plans, Mini-Kits, and full kit path become much easier to understand.
